I am Aditya Jha. I was about to graduate in June this year, but due to the pandemic, exams got cancelled. I was supposed to graduate with an Engineering Degree, with Computer Science as Majors.
Below is a short summary of the things that I have done till now.
teenage coding daysI was an avid fan of coding from my teenage years. At that point of time, I was actively learning about HTML and CSS, but not JS, because I did not understand that scripting language then. While developing webpages, I would attach Jquery links to my pages, and expect the js to work automatically somehow😆.
the START-UP phaseI had taken admission in Savitri Bai Phule University for my Engineering Degree, by this time. The Start-up Industry was booming in India, and I was dreaming🤩 of starting my own venture, with whatever knowledge I had. After a few failed attempts, I understood😏,
In order to start-up, one has to have some experience first, and after all I was a novice then,
But in reality my Idea was not that good. I have this dream till date, but now I am focussed on making myself better equipped with technologies.
learning to produce musicWhile I was in college, I was listening to a whole lot Hip-Hop songs, and, ironically, the hip-hop industry was also going through a boom. 'Gully Boy' had just released, and I was sure that I could make a name😎 for myself.
But since I was a novice, I struggled in making a beats. For six straight months, I tried hard and was able to make three tracks then and uploaded it on Soundcloud. Then I got bored😌.
intraday trading as a professionThen I got into the world of trading and I started learning trading tactics. I had opened a Trading account and I used to sit for six hours straight and do trading.
I also wrote a few scripts one of which was used for filtering stocks according to the current trading price, the other was used to convert raw numbers into formatted Indian currency. You can find them on my Github Gists.
I just had to open the website and paste the script on the console, and it would print out the stocks. I was convinced🤗 that I would be a successful trader one day. But then as reality hits, in turn, one become more humble towards life.
Arrogance in me was what made me ignore the facts and believe the fiction. I did have some profits on some days, but I lost even more on other days. What I earned was education and the importance of investment of money.
I had failed my yearly exams by this time, and had to repeat a whole year.
back to developmentI was quite good with my HTML5, CSS, and also JS. I was developing websites and applications all around, but I was not able to finish any one of them, due to college.
Last year, I had also done an internship in UI/UX development. I was in charge of the frontend website look. Well, you can't see the designs reflected on their webpage. But you can certainly see the designs, I created for them, on my Dribble page.
some Hip-Hop againBy the same time, I had also jumped back into music development. I have created 60 tracks since then.
And also I have been coding, as you can see on my Github page. Recently I had also completed coding a game using P5.js. The game is Ludo, and it is considered quite hard to develop, but I completed this game (limited in features but works) in under 20 days😎, well I had been trying code this game for two years now. After a lot of failed attempts, I finally did it this time. The game's UI can be improved a lot, since I was more focused on the functionality.
But why am I telling you all this ?
The purpose being, I am not afraid to disclose my mistakes that I have done before as I am confident about the skills that I have learnt over all these years. That is why I don't shy away from telling my failures.
After all these years, I have found what works for me, and I assure you that I am not giving up this time. And also apart from all the learnings that I have shared above, I also have a formal computer science education.
I am a guy that has experience in a lot of fields. And I am eager to learn better techniques that would make me a better designer. I think that this job would allow me to do that.
After that, I have stayed away from competitions, If you want to know if I'm Competitive or not, I am not. I am more of a Creative person, but I do follow deadlines strictly. According to me the real competition is when we compete with ourselves, that's what I have been doing.
